Whatever methodology Devolver Digital is using to choose the games it distributes, it's working. if you like base builders or rogue-likes do yourself the favor and try this game out.By Evan Norris, posted on 10 September 2022 / 1,851 Views it’s not a super long game, if you take your time with side quests and mini games it can definitely last 15-20 hours. all that blender together with the satisfaction of being a cult leader who leads the flock however you so choose makes for a damn good game. the runs only last on average 10 mins, which makes sense bc the in-game time still ticks when you’re dungeon crawling, meaning your followers will still be active, and you sure don’t want to leave your flock starving! it’s a mix between the action of isaac and hades, with similar base building from don’t starve, and with a small hint of animal crossing mixed in. it’s not too challenging, but it’s a nice balance of rng and skill. the rogue-like action of this game is satisfying and very similar to isaac with random weapons and buffs for each run. it’s a fat grind and can be repetitive, but it never bored me once. you’ll assign jobs to each follower and become a self sufficient community. spending time with your followers doing cultish activities like holding sermons, rituals, sacrifices, confessions, asking your followers to fight to the death, etc., is extremely addicting. base building and managing is the meat of this game. ![]() just note that dungeon crawling is not what you’ll be doing most of the time. the gameplay loop is all about making your cult bigger and more powerful, followed by taking on randomly generated dungeons and defeating bosses. the gameplay loop is all about base builder / cult simulator / rogue-like dungeon crawler you play as a lamb who’s a demonic cult leader. … Expandīase builder / cult simulator / rogue-like dungeon crawler you play as a lamb who’s a demonic cult leader.
